Thankyou to all who voted for the “Hospitalfield Suite” in the Scottish Jazz Awards - we won! Big thanks to Alan Barnes, Phil O’Malley, Ed Kelly and Stuart Brown for bringing the music to life but most of all to Alan Steadman of Jazz at Hospitalfield who came up with the idea. My plan is to record the music next year, watch this space.

Writing New Music

Sorry for the long time without any updates.
Paul is currently busy writing two commissions - A reworking of some electric Miles Davis for guitarist John Scofield and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, to be performed throughout Scotland in March 2010, and a set of new music to celebrate 20 years of Scotland’s Jazz Club at Hospitalfield House in Arbroath - This will be first performed on 13th February 2010 with a band featuring British Jazz star Alan Barnes, and several times later in the year too.

Paul received the award for best pianist at the Scottish Jazz Awards, which took place on 22 June 2009 as part of the Glasgow International Jazz Festival. This category was judged by John Taylor, Gwilym Simcock, Stan Tracey OBE, Nikki Iles and David Newton. Thankyou very much you guys!
