Born in Manchester, Pianist and keyboardist Paul Harrison moved to Scotland after leaving school, and is now held in high esteem as a fearless improviser whether playing piano, Hammond organ, melodica or anything else which has black, white and blue notes. Aside from working with Scotland’s best Jazz and blues vocalists and instrumentalists, including Tam White, Carol Kidd and Fionna Duncan, Paul is known for his collaborative genre-defying project with saxophonist Martin Kershaw and drummer Stuart Ritchie. Trianglehead was formed in order to develop an avant-garde brew of arresting sonics and trio conversation. Their debut album Maths received 4 stars in Jazzwise magazine, and the follow up Exit Strategy, was chosen by critic Rob Adams as his favourite release of 2007.. Although primarily a performer, Paul is a part time tutor in music at Edinburgh University, and as a composer and arranger he is working continually on new material for all of the many groups he appears with.
